Last week, our eighth-grade class embarked on an exciting field trip that combined history and nature in a truly unforgettable way. We had the privilege of visiting two remarkable sites, the Smallin Civil War Cave and Wilson's Creek National Battlefield, providing us with a deeper understanding of the past and an appreciation for the natural beauty of our region.

10/17/23 PHES Pirate Update

Students 1st-3rd Grade have been reading books from the Show Me Award Book Nominees. In March they will vote for their favorite out of the 10. One of those books is What Can You Do With A Rock? By Pat Miller. Students painted rocks after the story. Another book is A Walk In the Words by Hudson Talbott. Students walked to our Cross Country Trail to hear the story, add their painted rock to the trail, and search for hidden words.

PHR6 Ranch School Teacher, Zach Ruble was celebrated tonight for his dedication to his students and excellence in teaching at the 2024 Missouri Teacher of the Year banquet in Columbia, Missouri. Mr. Ruble was recognized as a Southwest Missouri and State Semi-Finalist Teacher of the Year. Mr. Ruble shared, "At the Good Samaritan Boys Ranch, students come from suburban areas, inner cities, and rural areas. One thing I have learned is that students like authenticity. I didn't have to change my lifestyle to mimic their lifestyle...but instead introduced a culture they had not seen before. They have come to appreciate that people are different; they may look differently, act differently, and have different hobbies, but they can accept each individual for who they really are."
Congratulations Mr. Ruble!!!
