Today, Pleasant Hope Elementary School was notified of 2 new positive COVID-19 exposures within Pleasant Hope Elementary School. The positive cases were 2 students at PHES. Please join us in wishing them a quick and speedy recovery. At the direction of the Polk County Health Department all students and employees who were exposed directly to the individual who tested positive for COVID 19 are being contacted by the Polk County Health Department. If you do not receive a phone call about this situation, no action is needed on your part. As a reminder, exposure notifications will be distributed each day (and at the completion of the weekends) if there are positive cases within the elementary school moving forward. We want to remind students and parents that we are required to follow the guidelines of the CDC and Polk County Health Departments in regards to isolation and quarantine to help stop the spread of the virus. Students enrolled in Summer School and Credit Recovery will be emailed instructions when classes are ready to begin. We hope to have this completed by the end of the day. We appreciate your patience.

Due to potential severe weather expected from 11:00am to 4:00pm the PHES color run will be moved to 9:00am. If you had planned to attend & watch the color run please arrive at 8:50am. Park in front parking area. The run will start on the northeast side of the building at 9:00am (just north of the PreK playground) If raining we will cancel the event.

We have made it to the last week, and we are still missing some books in the library. Students can come and see me to find out what is still on their account. If you need to replace a book from their list because it is lost or in poor condition, you can choose one from the Amazon Wish List I have put together for PHMS. Our PHR-VI students have access to Polk County Library electronic materials such as ebooks and audiobooks. Their Summer Reading Program has prizes for logging their reading this summer. Kindergarten enjoyed a presentation from Dickerson Park Zoo! Included in the presentation were a sugar glider and a large snake skin!

The Bull 105.1 radio station honored Mrs. Chapman with the Teacher of the Month for April. She was interviewed for a segment on the radio. Congratulations, Mrs. Chapman!
