Mrs. Smith's Reading/Literature Classes
by Dedra Smith
All About Me
My name is Dedra Smith. I have been teaching for seven years, the last five being spent at Pleasant Hope Ranch School. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a Specialization in Reading from Baylor University. I also earned my Master’s Degree at Baylor in Curriculum and Instruction with a Cognate in Reading.
About My Classroom
At the Ranch, I teach Title I Reading and one Literature class. I became a reading teacher, because I know that strong reading skills are essential to a successful, productive life during school and once you have finished. There is very little in life that does not require the ability to read and the use of reasoning skills involved in reading. Working with middle and high school boys, I always stress that all of my students can read; I am just going to do my best to help them read better.
