Ranch School Physical Education

Introduction

Welcome to the Ranch School Physical Education Classroom! We hope you enjoy your visit. We have 7 different PE classes: 4 from the individual Safe and Secure units and 3 from the open dorm school. Our school is unique in that our classes are small, which allow us to provide more interaction and participation. Our safe and secure classes can have a maximum of 10 students and the open school classes can have a maximum of 12 students.

Another thing that is different about our PE classes is that although we do emphasize sports and physical activity, the most important qualities we try to improve are the boys' self-esteem, confidence, social skills, sportsmanship, and their enjoyment of the overall physical education experience. Many of our students do not feel good about themselves. By improving their physical fitness and teaching them how to participate in physical activities correctly we hope that they will become overall better students. We also try to stress competition within, learning to motivate themselves to get better, not just try and be better than someone else.

We have a real good working relationship with the GSBR Recreation Department and staff. We share the same facilities as well as similar philosophies on how lifelong physical fitness can make you a better person. Many of the staff at GSBR offer recreational activities that enhance the physical education program.
