A Few New Years Resolutions
...Using All the NEW PHR6 Technology!

One of the obvious resolutions that the PHR6 schools made for the 2009-2010 school year was to jump feet-first into the 21st century! A new Student Information System that gives parents and guardians Internet access to all their student's records as well as this brand new website were two of the most noticeable additions to the district's technology offerings.
While the financial investments in these new technologies have been relatively small - thanks to the hard work of Theresa Greene, PHR6 Technology Director, in finding the biggest bang for the district's buck - the time and energy that have gone into research, training, and the actual implementation of the new software have been huge. So please take some time as we begin the second semester - and the new year! - to follow through on these resolutions:
- Contact the building secretary at your child's school so that you can participate in the Parent Portal function of our new SIS. Once you complete the appropriate form, you will be able to access your child's grades, homework assignment information, lunch account balance, and much more...
- Check out all the features on the new website at www.phr6.org. It's the quickest way to find out when school is closed for inclement weather or other emergencies. Just keep an eye on the scrolling marquee at the top of the Front Page for the latest info!
- Another feature on the site are the faculty and staff directories that allow you to find phone numbers, email addresses, and - another new feature we are just beginning to use! - Teacher Webpages for each faculty and staff member.
- Sign up for the News Update on the new site. It's as simple as entering your email address on the Front Page of the site. New articles and information will be sent to your address or phone as it happens.
- Also on the website, check the articles on the H1N1 virus and other health issues in the Health Services section, find out when and where events are happening in the Calendar section, learn about the work the PHR6 faculty has been doing to update the district's curriculum in the Academics section, and keep track of your favorite teams and activities under Athletics and Activities.
- If you are a member of one of the many booster organizations that support the schools, check into getting some space on the new site. It is very simple to create and update your web presence with our new system. Just let your coach or faculty sponsor know and he or she will get things rolling for you.
